Sustainability, both in practice and as a focus of a Georgia Tech education, has been a goal of the Institute’s strategic plan since 1995. Among other things, the 2004 update to the Campus Master Plan defines storm water management and re-use goals and methods; re-forestation approaches; land use guidelines; and vehicular reduction goals.

Over time, Georgia Tech anticipates a significant increase in research activities and graduate enrollment, resulting in a need for more space to accommodate students, faculty and staff. The Campus Master Plan focuses on the balance between education, economy and ecology to create the ideal environment to live, learn, work and play
